REDACTED Is a Cultural installation concept designed to feature at the Australian Heritage Festival in collaboration with the National Trust of Australia.

The brief called for a design concept that represented the work of an emerging Australian artist to be displayed at Como House one of the national trusts’ flagship properties.

Situated on the land of Australia’s First Nations people, Como House represents a significant and rich part of Melbourne’s told, and often untold history, becoming a significant place to remember and recognise the history of the land.

The works of chosen artist - Tony Albert - explore a number of political, social and historical topics within contemporary Australian society. Focusing on the experiences of displaced urban Aboriginal people, he interrogates legacies of colonialism in a way that prompts audiences to contemplate their history.

Taking inspiration from Tony Albert’s artworks, chosen mediums and underlying themes - REDACTED utilises the interplay of light, colour, words and the cultural heritage of Como House to create an evocative, juxtaposing and jarring installation that is both thought provoking and powerful in its message. With the Intention of educating and sparking conversation the Installation creates moments of discomfort for visitors - while they become immersed within a sensory experience, allowing them to learn more about the untold stories of Australia’s First Nations people.
