ANGLICARE MISSION HOUSE

Connection, Community, Biodiversity

Anglicare Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation and Victoria’s largest provider of out-of-home care and family services. Their mission is to create opportunities and transform futures while preventing, protecting, and empowering disadvantaged Victorians. The Mission House community centre provides emergency relief and support services to local community members, individuals and families who are experiencing hardship and may be at risk of homelessness.

Anglicare Victoria approached us with a brief to transform their flagship property - Mission House - located in Fitzroy. With no allocated budget, we were challenged to source all trades and interior items through donations, all - while continuing daily operations at Mission House.

Incorporating Anglicare brand colours, wayfinding tools, and increased storage solutions, the space needed to be functional, adaptable, and considerate of differently abled individuals and individuals with different cultures, religions and beliefs. With a specific demographic at Mission House, it was imperative to utilise a trauma-safe design that was accommodating for all and sensitive in nature.

Utilising ideas of biodiversity, interconnectivity and belonging, Mission House intendeds to create feelings of equality, safety and inclusivity. Individuals’ differences are supported and celebrated through a space that caters to the dynamic needs of its clients and where multi-use, flexible facilities and services instil a sense of dignity, connection and choice for all.
