DENFAIR + INTERIORS AUSTRALIA ENTRANCE FEATURE

INTERCONNECTED

Denfair and Interiors Australia is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition in Australia for the world of interiors, architecture and fit-out. It is about bringing the design community together to establish connections, encourage collaboration, gain new perspectives and simply to be inspired.

The Brief for the Design Show Australia was to design the main entrance feature for the event. As the first element of the show that visitors see when they arrive, the design needed to be big, bold and impactful to gain the visitors attention upon arrival. The design needed to respond to recent major events in a positive light and should consider the circular economy and afterlife.

Taking inspiration from the shows intent and responding to the impacts of Covid 19 - I wanted the immersive feature to reflect a rebuilding of community and togetherness. Referencing the notions of innovation and regeneration from interiors, the dynamic but simple forms of architecture, and the light, movement and function of product design, I came up with the theme interconnected.

In response to the past few years that have seen the design industry slowly disconnect in more ways than one, the first step in looking forward - is to reshape this sense of community. Deprived of physical connection and interaction - the Design Show Australia is the perfect event to reconnect individuals within the industry. Beginning with the entrance feature - this will be the first point of contact for attendees - so the goal is to emphasise a rebuilding of community and connection through strong visual and physical cues.
